The Life of Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist. He was born in February 12, 1809. He was born in Shrewsbury and was born into a wealthy family. He studied in the Shrewsbury School. He then in 1825 went to the University of Edinburg Medical School with his brother. After graduation, he went to Tenerife to study natural history. He then met Captain Robert FitzRoy. He then was convinced to go on a voyage in the HMS Beagle with captain FitzRoy. The trip started the 27th of December of 1831 and lasted about five years. Darwin saw volcanic rocks and beautiful rainforests. He experienced with natives from Argentina and then experienced earthquakes. The theory came about when Darwin saw how the animals changed from region to region. This was because of the environment they were living in. The theory of natural selection states that in the wild, only the strongest will survive. He said that animals evolved to be able to survive in the environment. This theory was highly controversial because Darwin was opposing God, who was a huge figure in that time. People thought that God made all things the way he wanted and Darwin said that they evolved on their own. This created a lot of controversy. He contradicted the religion. He was worried over developing his theory because his wife was very religious and the publishing of this book would tear the marriage apart. He did not want his kids to live through a divorce. He also was criticized heavily for this book.
